Welcome to the ISTPA, where professional Tennis and Padel coaching is offered under the leadership of Ivan Sequeira, who has over 30 years of coaching experience. Our venue is located at The Bryanston Country Club in the beautiful city of Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Since 2016, ISTPA – Ivan Sequeira Tennis and Padel Academy has been dedicated to developing tennis and padel players of all ages and skill levels. Under the leadership of Ivan Sequeira, the Academy offers year-round coaching, individual skill development, and group training programs designed to improve technique, strategy, and performance.
Ivan’s vision extends beyond coaching: he has managed junior and senior league teams, introduced competitive events like the Phoenix Tennis Trophy, and fostered growth in the Tennis Section at the Country Club. ISTPA combines elite coaching, a supportive community, and a passion for the game, providing players with the tools and guidance to reach their full potential while enjoying the sport in the beautiful Highveld climate.
Ivan – Director of ISTPA
Ivan is the Director of ISTPA and a highly experienced professional coach, committed to player development in South Africa for over 30 years. He became a TSA-qualified Professional Coach in 1995 and in 2022 earned his Head Coach qualification with PadelMBA. Ivan achieved Distinction in TSA Sports Science 2 and has facilitated coaching courses, mentoring other coaches in best practices.
He began coaching in southern Johannesburg with the Southern Sports Academy (Sequeira Sports), developing tennis at grassroots level in local schools. His guidance has helped several players secure overseas university sponsorships.
Ivan’s career has been shaped by working alongside leading coaches and academies, including Kobus Botha and Theuns Van Rensburg at Menlo Park Tennis Academy and Jean De Lange at Kinetik Tennis Academy. He has also contributed over eight years of coaching at Parktown Girls’ and Boys’ High Schools.
A dedicated lifelong learner, Ivan regularly attends ITF Coaches Conferences and other professional development workshops locally and internationally, staying at the forefront of modern coaching techniques.
Ivan has served on the Central Gauteng Coaches Committee and various club committees, championing the growth of tennis in South Africa. Known for his people skills, coaching ethics, discipline, and enthusiasm, he excels at assessing players’ levels and designing tailored programs to elevate performance for all ages and abilities. His philosophy is simple:
